Click speed test
Ten seconds, a live counter and your clicks per second at the end. The timer starts on your first click, so nothing is lost while you get ready — and your best CPS is kept in this browser.
Clicks per second, by range
The three techniques
Normal clicking — one finger, relaxed, 4 to 7 per second. This is the number that describes how you actually play.
Jitter — the forearm is tensed and the vibration does the work. Fast, inaccurate, and unpleasant for the wrist over long sessions.
Butterfly — index and middle finger alternating on one button. Highest rate, hardest on the switch, and useless if the mouse cannot register presses that close together.
What it does not measure
Click rate says nothing about reaction time and nothing about aim. They are separate skills with separate training — a fast clicker can be slow on the trigger, and a player with excellent reflexes can click at a very ordinary tempo.
For the other two there are separate drills: the reaction test and aim training.
A word about the mouse
Every switch has a debounce window — a short blind period after a press during which the next one is ignored. It exists to filter out contact bounce, and on some mice it is long enough to cap butterfly clicking outright. Software that lets you shorten it exists, and it is exactly why some servers treat suspiciously high CPS as an autoclicker.
Which is the honest caveat for this test too: it measures the pair of you and your mouse, not you alone. Compare runs on the same hardware and the number means something; compare across setups and it mostly means the setup. If you would rather not fight hardware at all, the catalog has private software for Rust and CS2.
Questions and answers
What is a good CPS result?
Most people land between 4 and 7 clicks per second with one finger. Anything above 8 usually means a technique rather than a faster hand — jitter or butterfly clicking.
What is jitter clicking?
Tensing the forearm so the hand vibrates and the finger taps the button far faster than a relaxed press allows. It works, it is loud, and it is hard on the wrist — worth using in short bursts, not for hours.
What is butterfly clicking?
Two fingers on the same button, alternating, so each press lands in the gap left by the other. It roughly doubles the rate on a mouse whose switch can keep up, and it wears switches out noticeably faster.
Does the mouse affect the score?
Yes. Switch travel and debounce time set a ceiling on how fast a button can register presses, and a wireless mouse in power-saving mode adds a little delay of its own. But technique moves the number far more than hardware does.
Does click speed matter in games?
In shooters, barely — semi-automatic weapons have their own fire rate cap and clicking faster changes nothing. It matters in games built around clicking: PvP in Minecraft, clickers, some MMOs.
Is a slower result a bad sign?
No. Click rate and reaction time are unrelated skills. Someone with a 190 ms reaction can easily click slower than someone at 280 ms — this test measures a motor tempo, not reflexes.
