Make sure Discord is running as Administrator and the overlay is configured: disable the standard overlay and enable the Legacy Overlay. If it stays in the "initializing" state, also enable "Compatibility Mode" in the overlay settings.
Once Rust's main menu has loaded, press F4 to open the cheat menu. The game must be running in windowed mode.
Also check: remove FaceIT AC if installed; try toggling your VPN if the loader fails to connect.
Make sure the game is running in windowed mode (not fullscreen). Set minimum graphics settings both in Rust and inside the cheat menu.
Delete the cheat's config file if one was created , this resets settings to defaults and often resolves the issue.
