What external means for your clips
An external cheat reads the game from the outside and draws its overlay as a separate layer. Specter does that across all five builds. The practical upside shows up when you record or stream. Specter APEX has an OBS bypass, so the ESP stays off your capture while you still see it, and the full RUST build carries a stream-proof record bypass for the same reason. Fragmovies and clips come out looking like plain gameplay.
External is not a magic shield, though, and nobody should sell it that way. The developer still has to ship fixes after EAC patches on Apex Legends and RUST and after BattlEye patches on PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, and builds go on pause during that window. Treat the architecture as one layer of protection and your own settings as the other.
Aim settings matter as much as architecture. A tight smooth on a recorded clip looks robotic, and the WindMouse and smooth sliders exist so you can avoid that.
